Rosemary Graham was born in Portsmouth, moved with professional artist parents to Shropshire, then to Manchester and The Peak District. Her art education was at Manchester Polytechnic and Birmingham University. She later gained further qualifications in textiles.
From a career in teaching, Rosemary has dedicated her life to creativity and painting, over the last fifteen years or so. She is a published poet and creator of a children’s television series, now settled in West Wales from West Sussex and inspired by the environment, culture and energies of place.
She says, ‘Years of exploration and discovery have lead me. An emotion is captured, expressed and translated. It is an expression of visual rhythm through colour and form and is abstract. It is an attempt to capture energy, not a literal representation. The subtleties of form, line and shape, and that which lies beyond and between in the moment, fascinate. ’
Rosemary has exhibited her paintings widely in the UK and abroad. Her work is in collections in America, Australia, Sweden, France and the UK. She has shown at The Mall Galleries and various venues in S. E. England including in London. Her textile work has been part of the RHS and major exhibitions in the NW.
